Muscat, Feb 8: Kudla Friends, Muscat an outfit comprising the popular trio Suraj Rebello, Yuvaraj Salian and Srikanth Shetty unfurled Kudla Cup tournament - Season V amidst amazing participation and spirit.
Many distinguished guests had come from Mangalueu to grace the grand occasion of Kudla Cup Season V concluding ceremony. The trophies and medals to the winners were distributed by the guests Mohiuddin Bava, MLA from Mangaluru city North constituency, Rakesh Malli, president of Karnataka Amateur Kabaddi Association, Manohar Prasad, chief of news bureau, Udayavani, and Jeppu Chidananda Naik, general manager, M Pallonji Qatar.
All the guests applauded the efforts of Kudla Friends, Muscat and congratulated all the participants. They appreciated the efforts of the trio of Kudla Friends.
Mangaluru MLC Ivan D'Souza was also a guest of honour, but could not make it to the programme. But he sent a video message which was played during the event, and he too congratulated the trio and conveyed his best wishes to all the Mangalureans.
Kudla Friends, Muscat trio Yuvaraj Salian, Suraj Rebello and Srikanth Shetty welcomed the guests in the traditional style and presented them with mementoes in gratitude of their presence and encouragement.
Madhu, a well-known face from Mangaluru compered the finale of the Kudla Cup Season V. Madhu introduced the guests and conducted the prize distribution function.
Kudla Cup Season V tournaments began on January 8 at the GPDCO cricket ground.
Cricket (Men)
Eleven teams participated in the Kudla cup cricket for men.
Stanley Fernandes, a renowned Mangalurean personality inaugurated the cricket tournament. The final match, the decisive battle was played between Muscat Mogaveers and MCCP Oman, and Muscat Mogaveers clinched the Kudla Cup.
Runner-up : MCCP Oman.

Cricket (Women)
Cricket matches for women were conducted on January 22. In the final match between MCCP Oman and Muscat Mogaveers, MCCP Oman emerged winners.

Throwball
Throwball matches were conducted on January 22, 28 and 29. MCCP Oman defeated Muscat Mogaveers to lift the Kudla Cup.

Tug of war (men)
Tug of war matches for men were conducted on January 28 and 29 at Muscat Sports club, Wadi Kabir. Muscat Mogaveers won the tournament and MCCP Oman were the runner-up.
Tug of war (women)
Tug of war matches for women were conducted on January 29 at Muscat Sports Club, Wadi Kabir. Bunts Oman won the tournament and Muscat Mogaveers were the runner-up.
For the very first time kabaddi tournament was organized on January 29. It was inaugurated by Rakesh Malli, president of Karnataka Amateur Kabaddi Association. National refree Sheethala Padival and Nithin Kumar officiated the tournament.
Vishwakarma team won the finals while Bearys were declared runner-up.

It was indeed a great sight to watch the members of teams from different communities come together, cheered on by enthusiastic and spirited spectators and sports enthusiasts. One could assess the tempo, spirit and anxious moments writ on the players and spectators' faces. Sportsman spirit was numero uno.
Bouquets were presented to esteemed members from the Mangalurean community as tokens of gratitude.
Mementoes were presented to all those who supported unstintingly and helped in the successful culmination of the events.

Kudla Friends Muscat expressed their sense of satisfaction and immense pleasure in watching the five seasons roll by after the inception in 2011. "We are touched and overwhelmed by the spirited co-operation, participation and encouragement. What started as a tiny drop in the form of an idea, blossomed into a plethora of such events," they said.
Since its inception in 2011, Kudla Friends, Muscat has conducted sports events and tournaments, prestigiously and successfully, much to the delight of the Mangalurean community and many a sports enthusiast. These include five seasons of various sports events like cricket both for men and women, volleyball, throw ball, lagori, slow cycle race both for men and women, kabaddi and tug of war both for men and women.
Kudla Friends Muscat, in order to enliven, enrich the spirit of togetherness through its maxim 'United for Stronger communities', has organized cultural events like Tulu drama 'Dada Maleparapundu' of the Lakumi troupe, Kudla Utsav, Tulu programme 'Tulu Parba' featured music director Gurukiran, followed by a mega comedy show 'Bale Telipale' by Prashamsa team and a power packed dance performance by popular DID star Kishore Aman and troupe and a Tulu stage by Devadas Kapikad and the Cha Parka team 'Paniyere Avandina' apart from the spectacular sports events.
