Bengaluru, Feb 10: The war of words over the actual cost of the watch chief minister (CM), Siddaramaiah wears, continues to rage between the CM and former CM, H D Kumaraswamy. Both have also called each other a liar.
A video clip showing Siddaramaiah with an attractive wrist watch on, was released to the media on Tuesday February 9. The watch shown in the video happens to be a diamond-studded wrist watch of the internationally acclaimed Hublot company, which costs between Rs 50 and 70 lac, it is being made out.
The wrist watch referred above, it is said, contains gold and diamond studs bearing model No. 301.PM.1780RX released by Hublot. Condemning the CM's craze for wearing costly wrist watches, Kumaraswamy, speaking at Bidar, said that Siddaramaiah has ceased to be a socialist he had been in the past. "After joining Congress party, he has transformed into Congress Siddaramaiah," he ridiculed.
Kumaraswamy stated that he was told by some leaders of the Congress about the craze for wrist watches Siddaramaiah has. "They have been proved right now. When I accused him of wearing costly watches and spectacles, Siddaramaiah had publicly offered both his watch and spectacles for total sum of Rs 50,000. Now the video clip shows him wearing wrist watch of Hublot company. What he has to say about it now?" he wanted to know.
As per information, the wrist watch shown in the video clip has a dial case made of 18 carat gold with diamond-studded hands. Even the belt of the watch has diamond crystals, and in India, including taxes, it costs about Rs 70 lac, it is said.
Responding to claims of Kumaraswamy at Hubballi, Siddaramaiah termed the former CM as an expert liar and asked people not to believe his words.
