Mangaluru, Feb 10: Police are supposed to not only protect the law but also set an example by following laws and rules themselves. And in this age where anything interesting goes viral in a flash, pictures of rule-breaking cop are something that attract much attention.
The compulsory helmet rule for pillion riders that came into force recently has raked in lacs of rupees for the traffic police who have been strictly enforcing the rule. However, in one instance on Wednesday February 10, a lady cop was caught on camera riding pillion without the helmet.
The pictures, clicked by an unknown person near Kankanady, show a lady cop riding pillion with a male cop.
The pictures soon went viral on WhatsApp and Facebook, with people sharing the photos with captions like 'Jago public jago'.
As the photos evoked outrage on social media, the higher police authorities took immediate action and fined ASI Sreedhar who was riding the bike Rs 100, which is the amount imposed as penalty for violating the rule.
