Siddhivinayak: Devotees entering from open space rather than metal detector.

Metal detector not erected at Police Mandal itself

Margao, Sep 16: The police department has been ensuring full security to people at Ganesh Mandal pandals by installing metal detectors, thus preventing any untoward incident. But, at the same time, the unorganized and inconsistent way of installation has drawn criticism.

As the police department had announced that metal detectors would be installed in required and sensitive places, it was presumed that they would be put up inan organized manner. But the situation is totally different and hence the public have criticized the pattern of installation.

At many venues, the police have installed the metal detector in the middle of pandal entrance, but have failed to barricade the open space beside the entrance. This leaves the crowd to walk into the venue, without going throgh the detector check. This makes the detectors serve no purpose and makes the very installation a farce. Even the constables sitting next to them do not bother about ensuring that everyone passes through the detector door.

A look around gives the same picture all over, with people making an entry through the open space by the side of the detectors.
