Mangaluru, Feb 14: Hundreds of yoga enthusiasts converged at Kadri Temple here on Sunday February 14 to participate in the 9th annual Samoohika Surya Namaskara organized by the city unit of Patanjali Yoga Foundation.
About 450 participants along with the office-bearers of Patanjali Yoga Foundation performed Surya Namaskara that is a combination of 12 asanas.
In the city, the Surya Namaskara was performed at 6 places by the Foundation.
Speaking on the occasion, the president of the city unit of the Foundation Narayana Shetty said, "The Surya Namaskara is performed on the seventh day of Vasanta season. Today Car festivals are celebrated in most of the temples as today is the special day of the sun. The sun is the reason for life and is also resonsible for the functioning of earth. We will be largely benefited from him through his light."
Dr Shashikanth Jain, director of Shanthivana Trust, Dharmasthala, yoga instructors Dhananjay, Yogesh Shetty, Chandrakanth Thota were present.
