Bengaluru, Feb 17: Time is not right for chief minister Siddaramaiah. The issue of him wearing an expensive watch has reached Raj Bhavan, the governor's office now. RTI activist S Bhaskaran has sent a petition to the governor asking his approval to prosecute the chief minister.
The petition addressed to Vajubhai Vala, the state governor states that “Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has not mentioned about the gift of watch costing Rs 70 lac when he made the declaration of his wealth. When a politician buys a valuable item or when it is gifted to him, he is bound to make a declaration about it. But the chief minister has not furnished these details in the declaration he made to the Lokayuktha earlier."
Bhaskaran wants to know as to why no declaration was made regarding the same. He also wants approval from the governor to be able to go to court against the chief minister.
The expensive watch episode had remained only a debate issue so far. But after reaching the Raj Bhavan now and Lokayukta days back, chief minister has really landed in soup. Defeat of Congress in the just concluded by polls is the salt added to the wound.
