Mangaluru, Feb 17: In an incident reported at Koppada Kumer in Badaga Mijar, Moodbidri on Wednesday February 17, a woman allegedly waylaid a youth's two-wheeler and attacked him with chilli powder.
It is alleged that Dinesh, a resident of Koppada Kumer, had been assaulted by one Ravi Devadiga and his daughters on the night of Sunday February 14 for no apparent reason. Dinesh along with some locals had filed a complaint in Moodbidri police station against the attackers the next day.
On Wednesday morning, when Dinesh, who was injured in the attack, was riding to Moodbidri hospital for a checkup, Ravi's daughter allegedly waylaid his two-wheeler, threw chill powder and assaulted him. The incident took place when Dinesh was passing through a road near Ravi's house. The locals alleged that Ravi's daughter also abused Dinesh.
Moodbidri police arrived at the spot and investigated.
The locals complained to the police that Ravi Devadiga and his three daughters have been troubling innocent persons in the neighbourhood by assaulting them and filing false cases against them. They demanded appropriate action against the family and urged that the police evict them from the neighbourhood. About a year ago, the family had allegedly made false claims against local youths in Kotebagilu-Subhashnagar and a case had been filed in Moodbidri police station in this regard.
