Mangalore, Sep 18: Hindi Day Celebrations was held at Canara Bank, circle office, here on Tuesday September 18.

Prof Sandeep Sancheti, director, NITK, Suratkal was the chief guest on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, he said, “Hindi has been accepted as our Nation’s official language in our constitution. Hindi is a very simple language to learn and to understand."

Delivering the presidential address, MM Kudva, deputy general manager of Canara Bank, said that on September 14, 1949, the constitutional assembly accepted Hindi as our nation’s official language and in the commemoration of the same every year Hindi Day is celebrated.

Kudva further said that Hindi plays a role both of national and official language. Hindi is very simple to learn and can be adopted easily, he opined.

He further called upon the staff members of the Bank and urged them to use Hindi in their day-to-day work. He also asked them to do as much work as possible in Hindi to facilitate friendly customer service.

During this auspicious occasion Kudva informed about winning of Mangalore Town Official Language Implementation Committee Award as well as Canara Bank Rajbhasha Akshay Award consecutively for 5th year, by Mangalore Circle.

Various competitions were organized as the part of the programme. Prizes to the winners were distributed on the occasion.

K S Bhat, assistant general manager of Canara Bank, Circle Office welcomed the gathering and K P Pai, divisional manager proposed the vote of thanks. Vanitha V Gadiyar, manager, official language section compered the programme.

Other executives from Circle Office and branches were also present on the occasion. Variety of entertainment programmes in Hindi were presented by the staff members of the Bank on this occasion.
