Mangalore, Sep 24: 'World Heart Day 2007' will be observed at Father Muller Medical College with a great purpose, from Sunday September 30 to Saturday October 6. The theme for this year is "Team up for Healthy Heart".
All over the world more than 17.5 million people die of heart related diseases. This year’s aim is to reduce the incidence of obesity in children, in particular. Obesity is the global problem in children which is preventable. Healthy living gives rise to healthy heart. Most of the heart diseases can be prevented or can be controlled. The number of patients who undergo Angioplasty or Bypass Surgery is increasing day-by-day and most of them do not follow with regular check-ups.
On the occasion of 'World Heart Day 2007' , Fr Muller Medical College, department of Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery under the able leadership of Dr H Prabhakar has planned to celebrate the 'day' in a unique way.
For the first time in India, a free check-up camp is organized at the Father Muller Hospital premises, exclusively for the patients who have undergone Angioplasty and Bypass Surgery. This camp will be conducted between October 1and 6.
Those who do the prior registration will get free investigation of ECG, Echo Cardiograph, Cardiac Consultation and Rehabilitation, Physiotherapy and Diet Counselling.
Most of the people are not aware of the healthy and nutritious food and do not follow the good eating habits and have inadequate awareness about the physical exercise which is the primary cause for all ailments and diseases. During this camp patients will be given a chance to exchange their views and get ready information by and from.
