Mangaluru, Mar 11: To commemorate the 175th birth anniversary of its founder, Father Muller simulation and skills centre will be inaugurated on March 13, Sunday in its premises," said Fr Richard Coelho, the administrator of Father Muller Medical College and Hospital.
He was speaking in a press meet in city on Friday, March 11.
"The Karnataka's health and family welfare minister UT Khader will inaugurate the centre at 9.30 am. Dr Francis Serrao the bishop of Shivamogga will bless the premises. Dr Dinker Pai, qualified simulation educator in India, will be the guest of honour. The graduation ceremony and 136th Father Muller Charitable Institutions day will also be held on the same day at 5 pm." he said.
Speaking on the occasion the principal of the Father Muller Homeopathic Medical College, Dr Shivaprasad said "Nearly 579 graduates from the Medical College and Allied Health Sciences, Homeopathic Medical College and College of Nursing and College of Speech and Hearing will be graduating on that day,"
“The chief guest of the function will be Dr Manju Singh, joint secretary, University Grants Commission. Dr Aloysius Paul D' Souza the bishop of Mangaluru diocese and president of Father Muller charitable Institutions will preside over ceremony. Nearly five thousand people including graduates, post graduates, staff, parents, alumni, guests and students will be witnessing these celebrations,” he added.
Speaking about the simulator Dr Rithesh Joseph, administrative in-charge of Father Muller Simulation and skills centre said "The center is the second of its kind in India and the first one in the South India. The Father Muller Simulation and Skills Center, a unit of Father Muller Charitable Institutions, is a state of the art multi-professional training facility equipped with the most advanced medical simulators and skills trainers. The center is committed to inculcate evidence based simulation competence into the curriculum of medical professional through risk free learning with the ultimate mission of promoting patient safety."

Simulation activities are designed to provide learners with opportunities to learn in a safe and controlled environment. The vision of the center is to be a world class leader in simulation based clinical education and research by using innovative methodologies to improve the quality of health care and by reinforcing the highest level of performance among the caregivers within a safe, supervised and dynamic learning environment. The teaching institutions have secured a number of ranks in the Rajiv Gandhi University. The center will be open for the medical institutions of the city as well as the state after its inauguration" he added.
Fr Rudolf D'Sa, the administrator of the Father Muller medical college, and Sudeep Pais, associate professor of physiotherapy were present.
