Kaup, Sep 30: A one-and-a-half-year-old boy who was critically injured in a collision between an auto-rickshaw and a tempo at the Kaup flyover on Saturday, died at a hospital while undergoing treatment.
The auto-rickshaw, which was travelling from Uchila towards Udupi, collided with a tempo belonging to Kaup Municipality that was being used to remove a banner from the roadside. Uchila resident Sandhya and her children, Gayan and Suvit, who were travelling in the auto-rickshaw, were injured in the accident.
Among the injured, one-and-a-half-year-old Suvit was in critical condition. The child was undergoing treatment in the ICU of a private hospital in Udupi and died on Monday, doctors said.
A case has been registered at Kaup police station, and police are continuing their investigation.
