Tumakuru, Mar 12: A woman police officer sustained injuries after her male colleague assaulted her. The incident took place on Thursday night at Koratagere police station in Tumakuru district. Incidentally the state home minister Dr Parameshwara hails from this district and represented Koratagere in Assembly.
Assistant Sub-Inspector from Koratagere police station Mangala Gowramma has filed a complaint that she was assaulted by constable Jabiullah Khan. As per her complaint the assault took place after they had argument over allocation of daily duty.
Jabiullah Khan has been suspended from duty but he could not be apprehended as he is absconding.
Jabiullah Khan who also worked as a writer used bad words and assaulted Mangala Gowramma after the argument. Gowramma has broken her finger and has taken treatment for the same.
Mangala Gowramma happens to be Dalit woman. Dalit and women associations protested in front of Koratagere police station on Friday until they were promised that suitable action will be taken against the accused.
Additional Superintendent of Police Manjunath said that FIR has been registered and the police are in search of the accused.
