34 killed in Turkey blast

Ankara, Mar 14 (IANS) : At least 34 people were killed and 125 others injured after an explosion hit Turkey's capital city of Ankara, the media reported on Monday.

A bomb-laden car caused the explosion late Sunday night near Kizilay square, Hurriyet Daily News reported.

Health Minister Mehmet Müezzinoglu said 30 people were killed at the scene of the incident while four others died on their way to the hospital, adding that one or two of them could be the attackers.

Some 19 people were in critical condition as seven were in surgery and the toll may increase, he said.

So far, no terror group has claimed responsibility of the attack.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan condemned the attack in a written statement, adding that "Turkey has become a target of terror attacks due to the instabilities in the region."

Turkey will continue its determined fight against terrorism, he said.

This is the third major blast to hit the Turkish capital since October 2015.

Islamic State (IS) militants bombed a peace rally near the Ankara Railway Station that killed 103 people on October 10, 2015.

On February 17, a suicide car bomb attack targeted military shuttles in the capital city on killing 29 people and injuring 81 others.

    Shankar,
Modi has to play a bigger role towards India’s economic developments/achievements than interfering in worldly affairs.
Whatsoever let India remain neutral in the face of today's treacherous, rogue intl. terrorist organizations.
If UN and leading world countries propose such a united action, India needs to support.

Westerners and Europeans hailed the change of regimes of Egypt, Tunisia, Libya and Syria as ARAB SPRING.

However, the Westerners and Europeans failed to perceive inner agenda of them which in later days sprang up as ISIS, AL NUSRA AND AL-QAIDHA.

    Canadian Alwyn,
Turkey does not support any terrorism. It is a moderate country with liberal thinking people. It just wants peace in its neighborhood.
I think India should extend all support to Turkey to curb terrorism.

What else, is other than that, Turkey being ruled by Sunni islamist government, wanted to throw out Syrian Shia government along with Saudi Arabia and other regional allies of Saudi.
What you sow you shall reap, thus the saying goes.
Even Syrian Bashar Al Asad correctly predicted, what his adversaries do, will come back to them later on.
Did removing Saddam Hussain achieve anything than more instability in Iraq.
Did removal of tyrants in Arab world achieve anything other than bringing in ISIS.
Arabs were since centuries and thousand years been nomadic and tribals, and had to be ruled by ruthless rulers, that is only way to keep them secure and safe.
Else is going to be free for all, as none agrees with one another in their culture.
