'Kadhalum Kadhandu Pogum' strikes gold at the box office

Chennai, Mar 15 (IANS): Vijay Sethupathi-starrer Tamil romantic comedy "Kadhalum Kadhandu Pogum" has raked in Rs.8.1 crore in its opening weekend in Tamil Nadu.

"This is the best ever opening for a Vijay Sethupathi film. In first three days, the film has collected a whopping Rs.8.1 crore at the ticket window in Tamil Nadu. Despite the onslaught of new releases, the film managed to hold well," trade analyst Trinath told IANS.

Directed by Nalan Kumarasamy, the film focuses on an unconventional relationship between a thug and a girl who works in IT.

With his last two releases "Naanum Rowdy Dhaan" and "Sethupathi" turning out to be successful ventures, "Kadhalum Kadhandu Pogum" becomes a hat-trick of sorts for Vijay.

The number of screens has been increased for the film from Monday.
