Kasargod, Mar 17: In an accident which occurred near Hosangady check post on national highway 66, a youth was killed. Shahjahan (21), resident of Irshad Nagara in Udyavar, Manjeshwar in the district, lost his life in this tragedy which occurred on the night of Wednesday March 16.

Shahjahan was a student of Srinivasa College Mangaluru. He had arrived at Udyavar, Manjeshwar, in his motor bike at about 7 pm. He parked his bike there,borrowed a Honda Activa scooter belonging to a friend, and was riding it towards Uppala, when a fish-laden truck which approached him from opposite direction hit him. Shahjanan died on the spot.

The body of the deceased was kept in the mortuary of government hospital at Mangalpady. The spot where the accident took place has been identified as an accident zone, where numerous accidents have accounted for dozens of lives.

Shahjahan's father works in the Gulf region. The youngster's death has plunged the family in sorrow.
