Kundapur, March 17: Jamayat Islami Hind as part of Quran for all campaign held a public meeting at Kundapur Unity Hall on March 16.

Kalyanpur Milagres College principal Dr Neri Cornelio, chief guest of the occasion, said that the Almighty does not ask for religion or wealth but only good work. “He asks the achievements of man. No religion in the world promotes violence. The religions only inspire peace. No religion or race consists of superstition but stand on the foundation of faith. It is not enough if a person reads religious books. They should be studied to know the essence of the religion. All scriptures proclaim the principle of live and let live,” he said.

Udupi district Kannada Sahitya Parishat president Neelavara Surendra Adiga speaking on the occasion said that all religions proclaim the message that while we love our religion, we should respect other religions too. “The Holy Quran stands on five pillars of prayer, sympathy, donation, help and Holy Mecca,” he said.

Udupi district 'Quran for All' campaign deputy convener Mohammed Idris who gave the keynote address said that hatred between communities should not lead to injustice. “The aim of the campaign is to reduce friction between races,” he said.

Kanaradi Vadiraja Bhat and Prashanth Tholar were on the dais. Jamayat Islami Hind Mangaluru secretary Mohammed Isaq Puttur presided over the programme. Mumtaz Ahmed recited and translated the Quran. Asgar Ali proposed the vote of thanks. Yasin Kodibengre compered the programme.
