MP Nalin issues deadline to finish phase 1 works in Balpa

Mangaluru, Mar 22: The MP of Mangaluru constituency, Nalin Kumar Kateel has announced a deadline for completion of first phase of developmental works at Balpa village of Sullia taluk chosen by him under Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana as end of this year.






He addressed the officials of the various departments at a meeting on district vigilance and monitoring committee at the zilla panchayat (ZP) premises on Monday March 21.

The following is the information given by the officials regarding the developmental works undertaken:
Syndicate Bank has already released Rs 20 lac with plans of providing solar lamps to the village and work is in progress.

Two NGO's have come forward to conduct e-classes for six government schools and to provide solar deep freezer to public health centre. Mangalore Special Economic Zone (MSEZ) will sponsor the construction of a model gram panchayat building and work on the proposed budget of Rs 90 lac has already begun.

While Mangalore Chemicals and Fertilisers (MCF) has offered to provide infrastructure for a community health centre, New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT) and KIOCL Limited will donate funds for the development of six schools and two anganwadis in the village.

A grant of Rs 90,000 has already been given to ten households for two toilets to be constructed. Free LPG connections have also been given to 190 families to make the village 'smoke free'.

The Life Insurance Corporation of India has already declared the village as an 'insured village'.

Mudra loans are also being distributed in the village along with development of roads and a lake.

The deputy commissioner A B Ibrahim on listening to the details said that gas connections, toilets and electrical connections must be given topmost priority and must be completed at the earliest.

The MP informed those present that the village has already been added to the prime minister's list. Gas connections, toilets and electrical connections are an important part of a household and work on these must be achieved by the end of March along with work on schools, as schools will commence in the next academic year from May. All the remaining works in the first phase must be complete by the end of this year.
