Beltangady: Vehicle hits stationary truck - conductor killed

Beltangady, Mar 23: A truck banged into a stationary vehicle near the town bus stand in the early hours on Tuesday March 22. In this accident, conductor of the truck died, while another suffered critical injuries.

The deceased was Bhoomesh (20), son of Rajanna from Tumakuru district, working as conductor for the ill-fated truck. Sudhindra Sharma from Rajiv Gandhi Nagara in Melukote, Tumakuru, suffered serious injuries. Sharma was travelling in the truck as a passenger.

A Tata Turbo truck ferrying soft drinks had been parked opposite State Bank ATM by the side of the bus stand here. The Eicher mini truck carrying milk coming from the direction of Ujire approached the parked vehicle from behind before colliding with it.

The driver of the vehicle fled from the accident scene. It is gathered that Sudhindra Sharma was going to Mangaluru after seeking a lift as he could not get a vehicle to go to Mangaluru on urgent work. Injured Sharma stands admitted in a hospital.
