Sri Lankan president seeks united action against terror

Colombo, March 23 (IANS): Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena on Wednesday called on the international community to unite to eliminate all forms of terrorism.

In a condolence letter sent to King Philippe of Belgium, Sirisena strongly condemned the terrorist attacks in Brussels on Tuesday which killed more than 30 people, Xinhua news agency reported.

"As a nation that suffered due to ruthless terrorism for nearly three decades, Sri Lanka is always willing to extend fullest cooperation to any action aimed at eliminating the menace of terrorism from the world," he said.

"Such senseless brutal acts must be condemned by the entire world. This also reminds us the imperative need for collective action against all forms of terrorism."
