Mumbai, Oct 4: Well-known social worker Clement A Lobo Nakre released the copy of Konkani play, Mhataro Chorbela’ authored by Francis Fernandes Cascia, an eminent social worker, popular Konkani dramatist, columnist, comedy artiste and playwrite at Shilpa Sadan, Chakala, Andheri East on Tuesday October 2.  

Play serves as a unique art which depicts the ongoing of life in a nutshell, performed by artistes at the stage.  Plays have the effect to win the hearts of viewers by true enactment.  Moral plays can change the life of many for good.  Plays are nothing but the enactment of true characters. Hence, the plays convey the unity.  Such plays enacted can bring unity among all section of society without the distinction of caste, creed, said Clement A Lobo Nakre.

Henry D’Silva Suratkal, play director and convener of Canarites Youth Association, in his welcome address, said that the Konkani play ‘Mhataro Chorbela’ is a comedy play based on the life of a Gulf- returned individual whose miseries at his native place explained in seven episodes.

Joy Paladka compered the programme and provided information on the theme and context of the play.

Betty Nazareth, Peter Pais, Shanthi Barboza, Gregory Sequeira Niddody, Flora D’Souza, Edwyn Banz, Jyoti D’Souza, Julie Vaz, Harry D’Souza Bantwal and others were present.

The play is expected to be staged in Mumbai in the first and second week of November, 2007.
