Mangalore, Oct 5: Ration card sealing drive’ has been started by the district administration. This was disclosed to reporters here on Thursday October 4.
Speaking to reporters, M Maheshwar Rao, deputy commissioner said that after the ration cards of those with LPG connections were sealed, nearly 60 kilolitres of kerosene was saved.
In all 3, 935 cards have been sealed in MCC limits, 1, 408 cards in city limits and 4,957 cards have been sealed in rural areas so far.
Meetings regarding the grievances related to PDS will be held on the first and third Saturdays of every month either at the DC’s office or at the taluk headquarters, Rao informed.
He further said that 47, 115 applications were received in the district for new cards until October 16, 2006.
BPL cards have been given to 16, 878 families APL cards to 16, 802 families by the district-level task force committee.
4 kgs of rice and wheat is given to the beneficiaries under Akshaya coupon, Rao added.
He further promised the consumers that he will speak to the officials of the oil companies with regard to the delay in the LPG supply.
