Bengaluru, Apr 5: Former Prime Minister Deve Gowda was not given an appointment to meet the state governor Vajubhai Vala on Monday, April 4.
Disappointed by this attitude, Deve Gowda later came down heavily on the governor.
Deve Gowda had led a rally organised by JD (S) protesting over the formation of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB). He, along with his supporters, walked to the Raj Bhavan to meet the governor. Deve Gowda waited for 45 minutes for an appointment. But he was sent back with the reason that the governor was unable to meet the former Prime Minister as he was taking rest.
The JD(S) legislators who had accompanied Deve Gowda were not allowed to enter the Raj Bhavan premises by the officials.
Deve Gowda later speaking to reporters said, "Raj Bhavan has become a place of rest. British left India, but slavery has remained. We do not know where we are today. This is Karnataka, not Gujarat.
"I am told that the governor wants rest. But he is not older than me. What can I do? He is the governor. His main job is, taking rest. It is not possible for us to talk. I asked the Raj Bhavan officials to let the legislators in. But they did not allow. Legislators are not terrorists. We do not know why the officials behaved like that. As a former prime minister, I am hurt.” Deve Gowda added.
