Mangalore, Oct 7: Two banks in the city in the last two days have detected 68 fake currency notes.
As per information given by the ICICI bank manager Susheel Raj, 67 counterfeit currency notes of Rs 1000, Rs 500 Rs 100 were deposited in cash by different customers. He further informed that these fake notes of assorted denominations were deposited in P M Rao Road branch.
Senior manager of the Balmatta branch of Canara Bank currency chest P Harishchandra stated that a fake currency note of Rs.500 denomination has been found in his branch, but the identity of the customer who deposited it is not known.
Two separate cases have been registered in the north police station of the city.
