Belthangady, Apr 8: Journalist Haimad Hussain passed away after a cardiac arrest during trekking at Charmadi Ghats near here on Friday, April 8. He was 28.
Haimad worked for Prajavani Kannada newspaper’s Mangaluru office as reporter.
Haimad on Friday had been to Charmadi Ghats with others journalists and environmentalists as part of a trek organized by Sahyadri Sanchaya to study the recent forest fires in the region.
During the trek, Haimad started perspiring heavily and experienced chest pain, and was unable to walk further, said his companions. He was rushed to a hospital in Beltangady where he was pronounced brought dead.
Haimad, originally from Raichur, was working in Mangaluru for the past one year. Sources said that he was supposed to return to Raichur on April 24 and join Prajavani's Kalaburgi team on May 2.
The mortal remains were brought to Wenlock hospital in Mangaluru later in the afternoon. MLA J R Lobo visited the hospital and expressed condolences.
