Kundapur, Apr 10: In a tragic incident, a student drowned at Koosalli Falls near Byndoor here on Sunday April 10 after he accidentally fell during trekking.
The deceased has been identified as Prasad Amin (22), a final year BCA student of MGM College, Udupi.
It is learnt that as part of their annual excursion, a group of about 70 NSS students of MGM College went to Koosalli Falls in Toodalli near Byndoor here on Sunday. Prasad and some of his friends sat atop a boulder under which the water flows. As the boulder was covered in moss, it was slippery.
Prasad who was on the boulder accidentally slipped due to the moss and fell into the water below. His friends tried their best to rescue him, but ulimately, Prasad got pullled away by the water and got stuck under a boulder, which led to his death, sources said.
Prasad was from Udyavar.
The police who arrived at the spot retrieved the body and sent it for post-mortem.
Byndoor police have registered a case.
