EU condoles Kerala tragedy


Brussels, Apr 11 (IANS): The European Union (EU) has expressed its “deepest condolences” over the death of over 110 people in a fire tragedy in a temple in Kerala.

A spokesperson for the EU foreign policy chief said in a statement that “the accident (on Sunday) caused a human tragedy.

"We express our deepest condolences to the families of the victims and wish a speedy recovery to the injured. Our thoughts are with the affected families,” the statement added.

More than 110 people were killed and over 350 injured, many seriously, when a huge quantity of firecrackers stored in building went off at a Devi temple in Paravur town in Kollam district in Kerala.
