Mumbai, Oct 10: Income-Tax sleuths on Tuesday conducted searches at the Juhu office and Seven Bungalows residence of Himesh Reshammiya. They seized a large number of documents and contracts detailing the music director-singer’s financial transactions over the past three years.

I-T sources made it clear that it was not a raid. “In technical terms, it was just a search and survey operation”, said an official. He added, “Nowadays, no tax offender keeps huge amounts of cash, or documents pointing to black money transactions, at home or office premises. It has become difficult to differentiate between legal earnings and black money.”

I-T authorities will now scrutinise the documents and professional contracts, signed by Reshammiya with his business partners and clients in the music and film industry. They will also investigate the dealings mentioned in the seized documents.

Senior I-T officials added that a detailed scrutiny of the documents could lead to several film and television personalities and entertainment agencies who did business with Reshammiya.
