Mangalore, Oct 20: The city magnificently bedecked in decorative laps and tableaux is busy getting ready for the biggest Dasara procession in the city, at Sri Gokarnanatha temple here on Sunday October 21.

One almost feels as if one is transported into Mysore Palace, looking at the opulent and breathtaking view of Kudroli temple. The temple is over-all lit up with bright colour bulbs and for the first time every street in the city is seen being adorned with sparkling bright, decorative lights.  The Shobha Yatra, a part of the Dasara celebration will be led by the member of the Rajya Sabha B Janardhan Poojary.

Hundreds of artists have been working hard behind the scenes for the past one month to put together the tableaux. The actual mounting of the structures on vehicles, however only began early this week. Nearly 60 tableaux are expected to participate in the grand procession this time.

The famous Kudroli temple is located in the heart of the city and is gloriously adorned with flowers and embedded with special lighting arrangements. The temple attracts huge crowds during the actual Dasara celebration. The majestic procession carrying the idol of Goddess Sharada attracts large number of devotees and usually lasts for about 12 hours. While the main idol will be carried by one of the tableaux, the remaining nine others will carry the idols of Goddess Navadurge.

The procession will start from Mannagudda passing via Lady Hill Circle through M G road to Hampankatta finally culminating in Car Street.

While complimenting Daijiworld for the superb coverage of the celebrations alongwith classy photographs , credit should also go to the organisers for making the event a broadbased and cosmopolitan affair so that people of the city irrespective of caste creed and faith could witness and enjoy the fervour .

The festivities organised under the banner of Mangalore Dasara celebrations emanating from the famous Shree Gokarnatha Temple at Kudroli have made the affair truly a public celebration with the people from all walks of life taking part actively ,which also promotes harmony as the Dasara festival is in itself a manifestation of the victory of good over evil.

Otherwise the celebrations get restricted to only a few who monopolise the event and dominate the festival giving an impression that it is meant for only a section and not the entire city.
