Mangaluru, May 8: Ammembal Somappa Gatty (78), a retired tahsildar, died on the evening of Friday May 7 after having been knocked down by a jeep. The accident occurred when Gatty was crossing the road.
Somappa was on his routine of evening walk when the accident occurred. When he was crossing the road near the office of the regional transport officer (RTO), he was hit by a jeep. Gatty lost his life instantly.
Somappa Gatty had worked as tahsildar at Kasargod. He was spending retired life in Pandeshwar here. He is survived by wife and three sons.
Gatty had earlier functioned as vice president of Gatty Samaja.
