Bihar: Youth shot dead in Gaya for allegedly overtaking JD(U) MLC’s son’s car

Patna, May 8 (Agencies) : A man was shot dead in Bihar’s Gaya district late Saturday night allegedly by JD(U) MLC’s son for overtaking his car.

A friend of the deceased, who was accompanying the victim in the car, said, “We tried overtaking their car, but they started firing shots in the air. One of them was wearing a commando dress (uniform).”

He further added that the victim was ‘assaulted’ and shots were fired at him that led to his death.

Rampur Police on Sunday detained JDU MLC Manorama Devi’s husband Bindi Yadav and arrested Manorama Devi’s bodyguard in connection with the killing of a youth.

Talking to News agency, Bindi Yadav defended his son and said, “My son was driving the car and those four persons in the other car were drunk.”

Yadav further alleged that the passengers from the victim’s car had assaulted his son. “They started overtaking his car, stopped my son on the way. They then pulled him out of the car and started beating him,” said Bindi Yadav.

“During the scuffle, my son took out his licensed pistol in defence and by mistake it happened (killing of youth),” Bindi Yadav added.
Yadav said law will take its course now and that they respect the judiciary.

Reacting to the incident, Ali Anwar of JD(U) said, “Anyone taking law in their hands will not spared, such people can’t be protected.”
