'Congress wins Uttarakhand trust vote'

Dehradun, May 10 (IANS): The Congress-led by ousted Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat won the trust vote in the state assembly on Tuesday, a party legislator said.

Sarita Arya, the legislator from Nainital constituency, told a private TV channel that the "Congress has won".

She claimed that Rawat secured 33 votes while 28 went against him.

The assembly proceedings were videographed on the order of the Supreme Court. The voting result will be declared officially by the top court on Wednesday.

A beaming Rawat didn't comment on the voting result but thanked the "Supreme Court, democratic forces and people of Uttarakhand" for supporting him. "Uttarakhand will be victorious tomorrow," Rawat told reporters.

Prohibitory orders were clamped around the assembly premises ahead of the trust vote.

Uttarakhand has been under President's Rule since March 27 when the Congress government was dismissed by the central government citing mis-governance in the hill state.

President's Rule was lifted for two hours, between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Tuesday for the floor test.

The 70-member Uttarakhand assembly has been reduced to only 62 -- including one nominated member -- after the Supreme Court upheld the disqualification of nine Congress rebel legislators.

The Congress has 27 members and the BJP 28. There are six from the PDF.

Mr. Shetty, it seems like you are trying to teach or brainwash me with all the great performance of the current BJP Government.

I am going through the reports of India's foreign trade-FDI etc etc and those reports are very disappointing. The BJP has done a terrible thing through curtailing the funding of hundreds of NGOs which were engaged in helping the helpless. The tears of the helpless people will be turning against the BJP Government like the wind hit at the make in India big show at Mumbai.

How much the make in India event is piratical and fulfilled?

The election results at New Delhi-Bihar and the rest are clear cut validation of the poor performance of the BJP Government.

You are a great supporter of BJP, whereas I am not a supporter of any political party in India. I had great hopes that Mr. Modi would be doing some drastic revolutions in eradicating red tape and corruption but was greatly disappointed. The worst things is the tight lipped attitude of Mr. Modi through ignoring many cardinal issues facing the nation touching the minorities thus I came to the conclusion that he is indirectly supporting the minority persecution undertaken by the street goons of India. I have nothing to gain through supporting any political party in India, but will stand firm to speak about any unrighteousness-autocracy-discrimination and exploitation of the people, especially the poor and the minorities. That is all.

The unrealistic pipedream promised party is now faced with the reality check. 31% of the Indian electorate through their misguided mentality brought a party into power dreaming paradise on India but in reality, from day one it became a nightmare for the whole nation.

The firm lesson from New Delhi and Bihar was not enough so tried to play an autocratic game plan with the Congress Government of Uttarakhand imposing autocracy through a Presidential rule, but the Judicial system of India stood against the hidden tricky strategy.

GOD ALMIGHTY who created the plants and animals for human use, not for worshipping. The Cow worship and minority suppression were the primary agenda of the BJP and GOD ALMIGHTY is very irritated with India now.

The BJP will be learning lessons one after another. Hearty congratulations to the Government of Uttarakhand.

Yes , Cow is God for some. But how many Cows do you feed and look after ? You see Cows being allowed to stray on the roads and often eating from dust bins. Have you taken your "sacred cow" to your home and fed it with proper food / fodder , checked them for any illness by at vet ? You find Cows being let on the roads only to be killed by trucks. You don't have pity for the "sacred Cow" then ? So are you as sacred as the Cow to lecture others ? Cows are being injected with steroids to produce milk continuously and you drink it , make sweets out of it, drink coffee and tea with it, drink badam with it etc. At that time the "Sacred" in the Cow is not thought of or forgotten by you conveniently. Its hypocrisy of the highest order. Note : I am a Hindu and eat beef and its products. Nobody can stop me.

Dinesh anna.....by your rubbish logic if something is roaming on the streets, then butcher & eat it.....

yes cows are under distress & their population in 60 years has reduced 50%, that too majority are foreign cross breeds. Indigenous breeds like Gir, sahiwal, ongol are facing extinction.....all because of the callous attitude of few of our own people....

Please try to get some knowledge of the importance of indigenous breeds to our health, economy & environment. After mothers milk only cows milk comes closest to being good for human consumption....Think my friend...

By the way during Diwali & Sankranthi your forefathers would have worshiped the same cows.....Pls tell them proudly that you butchered & ate what they worshiped.....They will be extremely proud of you!!!.....

Dear friend Shetty: The list of accomplishment are too long indeed.

Let us start with the first Railway miracle expansion.
Sri. Sadananda Gowda was appointed as the Minister of Railway by Mr. Modi, but he was kicked out to the less prestigious " Minister of Law" due to the fact that he didn't bring billions of foreign investment within 100 days.

The current Minister of Railway went abroad for getting investment with 100% ownership in the Railway, and he has stated that it will take $ 500 billion to revamp the Indian Railway.

Do you know my friend, what was the amount of FDI in India in 2014-15 $ 44.29 Billion, and in 2015-16 it was $ 40.82 billion.

The list is like the ignorant statement of Mr. Modi comparing Kerala with Somalia. He might have thought that Somalia is a Scandinavian country.

The draught in Maharastra is too severe so the CM asked to Mr. Modi for crores of Rs to solve the problem and Mr. Modi responded that he will be asking Rs. 4000 crore loan from the World Bank. If the Government doesn't have money to solve the worst draught crisis now faced with, how trillions of dollars are going to be invested in India?

Before the attacks upon Iraq, the Western nations warned Sadam Hussian to leave the county with all his wealth, but he didn't do that. People with autocratic mindset are too overconfident and it is too hard to change their mind. Mr. Modi's right hand man
Amith Shaw was his Home Minister in
Gujarat and appointed by the special order of Mr. Modi as the head of BJP.

Whether in Karnataka or Kerala, New Delhi or Bihar, Amith Shaw's picture is shining as if the savior of India.

My regret is that the BJP followers are blinded to see the exclusive Gujarathi rule of the largest democracy in the world.

After winning in the LS election 2014 BJP is busy with find out the mistakes of the previous gov't and trying to prove that they are wrong. The most important thing they forgot the promises made during before the election and development work towards the nation. Now a days people are educated and they judge all the politicians.

This is a big lesson for all the corrupt MLA's and MP's who get swayed by big money and switch loyalty.

BJP has consistently tried this dirty trick and worst form of it was in Karnataka. MLA's were herded from Resort to Resort just to get chief minister-ship in this case both Reddy and Yeddy were from BJP only. Hunger for power was too much and obscene.

It is natural that most often a sitting non-performing MLA gets ped while giving tickets for next election. He knows he gets dropped from party ticket, all he then has to do is switch sides at the fag end of the assembly. This is exactly what happened in Uttarakhand. BJP which is always ready to fish in dirt, picked up the corrupt non-performing MLA's to topple the Congress Govt.

Luckily for courts, democracy is saved. Otherwise it would have left a huge crisis in the future, where every MLA or MP could have made a team to get what they want in terms of money and power.
