Mumbai, Oct 24: The thrill of a ‘joyride’ cost 18-year-old Abhishek Doshi his life on Sunday October 21, when he crashed his friend’s brand new motorcycle into a divider at JJ Flyover only to fall in the path of an oncoming car.

A police officer said Abhishek, who sustained injuries to his head and legs, was taken to JJ Hospital but was declared dead on arrival. His body was handed over to his father, Nemichand Doshi, after post-mortem. Sub-Inspector K Kadam of the Pydhonie police said Abhishek had a valid driver’s licence and had not consumed any liquor.

Kadam said Abhishek had borrowed his friend’s four-day-old Honda Unicorn motorcycle (MH-01-WA-4756). The teenager was driving at 70 km per hour on JJ Flyover at 6.30 pm when he lost control. Abhishek crashed into the road divider and was flung from the bike. However, Kadam said, Abhishek was mowed down by a Maruti car.
