Udupi: Mescom lineman dies on duty due to electric shock

Udupi, May 21: A lineman died on duty on the night of Friday, May 20 at Brahmavar near here.

Shashidar Suvarna from Kodi is the person deceased.

It is said that Shashidar was working with other workers from Mescom when he received the electric shock on an electric pole. People said the Mescom workers were about to wind up some repair work, when Shashidar was knocked down by the electric shock as someone switched on a generator. He died on the spot.

Shashidar has been working for Mescom for the past three months.

    We should agree that no safety standards prevail in our country. Of course are having good electricians and knowledgeable trade people in all fields but not providing enough safety for them.
    Very sad incident indeed. Due to negligence of a person lost life of a young man. People are taking everything easy.

    still i remember few years back gerald line man..lost life in same way in vamanjoor. mescom officials dnt bother about safety of line mans..or some one deliberately done.???
