Minor girl consumes poison after man makes indecent advances over phone

Bantwal, May 29: A minor girl consumed poison after a man phoned her and made indecent advances and threatened her with consequences if she did not come with him. The incident happened near Vittal near here. A case was registered at Vittal police station on Saturday, May 28 regarding the matter.

Samshuddin (25) from Kolnadu, who works for a jewellery shop in Vittal for the past three months, is the person accused.

As per the details, Samshuddin phoned the minor girl, aged 16, again and again with indecent words. He phoned her on May 26 when there was no one at her house and called her to his room. He told her if she did not come, he would go to her house. He also threatened her, the girl alleged in the police complaint.

When the girl got disturbed by his call, she consumed poison which was at her home. Now she has been admitted to a hospital in Mangaluru.

A case has been registered under POCSO act.
