Bantwal, Oct 31: A history sheeter was brutally murdered at Mani junction, on Mangalore – Bangalore National Highway (NH) 48, near here on Wednesday October 31 evening.

The deceased person has been identified as Shivu yane Shivaram Rai, a resident of Mani. The incident occurred at 4 pm, when he was busy chatting with his friends Altaf and Ramakrishna.

Three assailants riding on a motor bike arrived on the spot and hacked Shivu to death in split seconds.  Altaf and Ramakrishna ran away from the spot to save their life, sources said.

The body of Shivaram Rai was lying on the ground for more than an hour without anyone coming to his rescue, sources added.

Shivaram Rai was one of the prime accused in the murder case of Prithvipal Rai, who was murdered at Konaje few years ago. He was also booked in connection with several criminal cases, at Vittal and the neighbouring police stations in the past.

After receiving the news Vittal police rushed to the spot. They informed www.daijiworld.com that they suspect the role of locals in slaying Shivaram Rai and assured of arresting the alleged killers at the earliest.
