Locals who saw her plight informed the department of women and child welfare and admitted her at the Wenlock hospital under grama panchayat assistance. The department and grama panchayat development officials assured the locals and the woman's brother that they will take complete care of the woman thereafter. They also said that they will admit her at the government orphanage once cured.

Grama panchayat member Dinakar Kulal lamented that the assurances were all forgotten about after the woman was admitted at the hospital and none of them visited her there.

Locals and Dinakar Kulal have been helping the woman inquiring about her health from time to time. As there is improvement in her health, the doctors have asked for her to be taken home.

If you decide to uplift somebody, do not leave them mid-way but be with them until they are self-reliant.

Else, let others do it, do not brand their deeds as conversion gimmicks !

In a "Welfare State" funded by the Tax-payers" money, it is the bounden duty/responsibility of the Govt. to take proper care of its destitute/mentally ill citizens, since they are in a totally helpless situation and likely to be victims of exploitation.

At the same time, it's a sad state of affairs that "Welfare State" has come to mean welfare only of the well-to-do.

Hope society examines its conscience and gives a proper account of itself. Finally, we are all answerable to Almighty God for each of our actions.
