Bantwal: Man drowns in pond while taking bath

Bantwal, Jun 5: A person drowned in the pond while taking bath after working in a plantation belonging to his brother on Friday June 3. He has been identified as Nidyala Jattappa Gowda (55), a native of Punacha village.

His family members got panicky after Jattappa did not reach home in the evening after work as usual. They went searching for him and found his clothes placed on the edge of the pond.

After the fire brigade was alerted, a team of firemen from Puttur reached the spot and after some effort, brought the body out of the pond. Vittal police station house officer, Prakash Devadiga, and other personnel visited the spot and conducted inquest.

A case of accidental death was registered.
