Mumbai, Nov 5: A fire broke out on the 13th floor of Express Towers in south Mumbai on Sunday evening, fire brigade sources said.

However, there were no casualties as the blaze was quickly brought under control, sources said.

"Fire broke out at the lift lobby above the false ceiling at the thirteenth floor of Express Towers, where the office of Lintas advertising company is located. There are no casualties as fire was controlled quickly," Deputy Chief Fire Officer MM Desai said.

The fire broke out at around 5.45 pm and it was controlled by 6.30 pm.

There were 35 people present on the 13th floor, including maid-servants when the fire broke out. All were safely evacuated.

"While there is no damage to office property, all electric cables and fixtures were destroyed in the fire. The total damage is estimated at Rs 50,000 to one lac," Desai said.

The official said prima facie short circuit seemed to be the reason. However, exact cause of fire will be ascertained only after investigations.

Six fire engines, three jumbo water tankers, snorkels and a breathing apparatus van were pressed into service to control the fire, Desai added.
