Los Angeles, Jun 13 (IANS): Hollywood celebrities like Kim Kardashian, Beyonce Knowles and Madonna took to social media to express their love and condolences for the victims of the mass shooting at Pulse gay nightclub on Sunday in Orlando, Florida.
In the worst mass shooting in US' history, at least 50 people were killed and 53 others injured when a "lone wolf" gunman opened fire early on Sunday at the nightclub. The gunman, named by officials as Omar Mateen, 29, was killed by a SWAT team after he took hostages at Pulse.
Following the incident, the "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" star sent her "thoughts" and "prayers" for the victims, reports aceshowbiz.com.
"I'm truly at a loss for words. To everyone in Orlando affected by this massacre, my thoughts, love and prayers are with you," Kim Kardashian wrote on Twitter.
Knowles posted on Instagram a photograph of a peace sign made of flowers and branches which she captioned, "Condolences and prayers to Orlando".
Madonna also paid tribute to the victims of the shooting by uploading on Instagram an image of her quote which read, "You cannot use the name of god, or religion, to justify acts of violence, to hurt, to hate, to discriminate".
Other celebrities like John Legend, Milla Jovovich, Ty Dolla $ign, Amy Schumer, Mindy Kaling and Ariana Grande also offered condolences to the victims on social media.
