Domestic gas cylinder explodes, house damaged at Padil

Mangaluru, Jun 13: Domestic gas cylinder exploded due to leakage and as a result, the house was damaged severely. Luckily the occupants of the house escaped unhurt.

The incident happened at a house belonging to Umesh who runs a laundry shop. At around 9.45 pm on Monday June 13, Umesh fixed the new cylinder in which he noticed leakage. When he was trying his best to fix the problem, the leakage increased. Umesh with his wife and daughter ran out from the house sensing danger and within a minute the cylinder exploded.

Fire brigade arrived at the place but the damage to the house could not be avoided.

    As I felt two times earlier, these type of Gas leakage at the time of Cylinder change causes due to the negligence of LPG filling personnel on forgetting to put the proper rubber bush inside of the neck of the Cylinder where we fix the regulator.Before using the refilled cylinder it is better to observe the presence of the rubber bush (rubber washer)inside the area of the cylinder where we fix the regulator. If you won't find the rubber washer, you call the LPG supplier to fix the necessary washer and confirm non leakage and use.

    Friends,
    The Authorities of LPG refilling unit in Mangalore are not doing their duty properly.
    The empty cylinders are just taken for refilling without doing the quality check & Cylinder Manufacturing date check.
    Due to this many gas leakage incidents are happening around Mangalore & many have gone un noticed due to timely awareness of the consumers.
    THE ACTION SHOULD BE TAKEN AGAINST THE QUALITY OFFICERS OF LPG REFILLING UNIT & THE COST OF DAMAGES CAUSED SHOULD BE COMPENSATED FROM THE LPG COMPANY.

    Thank god.. They are all safe...
    About a year back we returned one cylinder to HP gas after seeing leakage on opening its cap...
    These gas companies should scrap their old rusted cylinders...

    Thank God nobody was injured or killed by this gas explosion. The family members got out before the cylinder exploded. Thanks Dayananda Kukkaje for the photo coverage of this incident. It is very sad to see the house in such a state.

    House owners presence of mind saved them. Damage to the house could be repaired to new look but damage to the body can not be repaired to the original or new look.
