Two English fans sent to prison in Marseille


Marseille (France), June 14 (IANS): A French court here has sentenced two English fans to jail terms and banned them from entering France for the next two years.

Male nurse Ian Hepworth, 41, and chef Alexander Booth, 20, were convicted on Monday at the court of Marseille, following clashes between Russian and English fans that lasted from Thursday until Sunday, reports Efe .

Hepworth was sentenced for two months and Booth for three months.

At least 35 people were wounded, including one who is in a critical condition.

The general prosecution in Marseille, Brice Robin, said that 10 others will be subjected to speedy trials, including six Britishers, three Frenchmen and an Austrian.
