Bangalore: BJP's First Government in South on Nov 12

Bangalore, Nov 9: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s B.S. Yeddyurappa will take over as Karnataka chief minister on Monday, it was announced here Friday.

'The exact time of swearing in will be made known late Friday or Saturday morning,' Yeddyurappa told reporters after meeting Governor Rameshwar Thakur, who invited him to form the government.

Yeddyurappa was accompanied by his predecessor H.D. Kumaraswamy of the Janata Dal-Secular (JD-S), which is extending support to a BJP-led government after breaking with it in early October over power sharing.

'It is for the governor to fix the date,' Kumaraswamy said when asked when the combine would prove its majority in the assembly.

'As soon as possible,' said Yeddyurappa, who enjoys the backing of 129 legislators in the 225-member assembly.

On Tuesday, the BJP and JD-S took over 120 supporting legislators to President Patil to prove to her that the combine enjoyed majority in the house.

Thakur also sent a report stating that though the stability of the combine's government was doubtful, it has to be given the opportunity to form the government.

On Thursday, the union cabinet accepted Thakur's report and decided to end the central rule.

According to indications, only Yeddyurappa and a yet-to-be named JD-S leader will take oath as chief minister and deputy chief minister Monday.

The ministry will be expanded later as the two parties are yet to reach an agreement on the portfolios to be shared.

The JD-S is facing problems as there are many claimants to the post of deputy chief minister, the frontrunner being Kumaraswamy's elder brother H.D. Revanna.

However, Revanna is facing opposition from his own party legislators with a majority favouring Kumaraswamy as deputy chief minister.

H.D. Deve Gowda, JD-S president and father of the siblings, will meet senior leaders of the party Sunday and announce his decision.

    Finally, A long political drama ended in forming first BJP government in south India. This time Congress lead central government took a calculated step to avoid any misadventure which might give a bad image to the party. Raising ambiguity in the minds of minority due the simple reason a party having state leaders who admirer of Mr. Modi, who directly responsible for the Gujarat genocide. Some BJP’s state heavyweight’s provoking a statement’s which generates a sense of fear among minorities.

    During recent Mangalore communal violence and all knows how administration worked behest of District in charge Minister. Criminal cases against Sangh Parivar activist withdrawn by the pressure of former Dy CM. All post riot sequence of events is sufficient to create an uncertainty in the minds of Minority. Democracy is a beautiful system, but exploiting sentiments to turn into votes and ultimate goal is power!?.

    We are expecting Mr. Yadiurappa discharge his duty as a CM of Karantaka not a member of BJP. He will safeguard the interest of the state where collapsing infrastructure needs to be prioritized. Message of Deepavali will enlighten the life of deprived Kannadigas. Let us see how far Padmanabha nagar’s blessings on Mr. Yadiurappa to remain as CM.

    it is very sad to know the forming of bjp/jd govermment in karnataka. the day on which this govermment takes oath is a blck day in the history of karnataka. bjp a party which is undemocratic, antinational, its leaders hands are stained with peoples blood has no right to rule any state of india. on one hand the leaders of bjp say 'onde matharam' on other hand bjp and its sangh parivar inflict body injuries to mother india. i rate all those political patrties who join hands with bjp to form the government for thier selfish political gain. so now the govermment of katnataka is undemocratic. my curse is on bjp and it allies.

    In democracy every state must have a goverment. It is good that someone has been invited to form the govt. It is golden opportunity for the BJP-JD(S) to prove that they are serious parteners and gain the confidence of the people and work for the people's welfare. If they do any mischief in power sharing and start fighting it will be a shame. I wish good luck for the new government.
