Javadekar takes charge of HRD Ministry, Irani skips event

New Delhi, Jul 7 (PTI): The prime challenge that the education sector faces in the country is raising the quality of education and ensuring it reaches all, HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar, who took charge, said today.

"The major challenge that is there in the education sector is to raise the standard. Quality education is vital as it lays the foundation for life and builds overall personality," he told reporters after taking over.

His predecessor Smriti Irani, who has been given the charge of Textiles Ministry, however, did not turn up for the event.

Javadekar said she could not join the occasion because of "family reasons". He had yesterday met Irani, whom he had described as his "little sister" and said he would carry on with the "good initiatives" taken by her.

The sole purpose of education is not just employment which is a "byproduct", he said.

"The aim of education is to lay the foundation for life on the basis of which societies are created. It is the duty of the education sector and we accept this challenge. Our mission will be to ensure quality education reaches all," he said.

Javadekar, who was flanked by Ministers of State for HRD Upendra Kushwaha and Mahendra Pandey, said that there are ample opportunities as well as challenges in the sector on which they will work jointly.

Asked about certain controversial remarks about Irani reportedly made by a JD(U) leader, he said that it was the "worst comment". "I do not want to make a comment on somebody's remark," he said.

Javadekar said he would reply to questions on policy matters and others issues after being briefed by officials.

Javadekar also said that he will soon go for a programme in Pune where those who had taught him will be honoured. After taking over, he held a meeting with his ministry officials.

Officials said that he spoke on issues including geographic information system (GIS) mapping of institutes and filling up of faculty vacancies.

A reader here who always blindly supports this government is now trying to defend it by saying that there was a lot of gotala done by the previous government. My friend, nobody is denying that the previous government was corrupt. I would say they were very corrupt. And because of this corruption, they were kicked out of office and this BJP government was elected in its place hoping that there would be no favouritism shown to any of their friends. Instead of this, if they keep doing what the previous government did, what is the use of ing such people? They are as bad as the previous ones.

Replacing Smriti Irani with Prakash is like jumping from the frying pan to the fire. The only good point is that unlike the former, he is at least a graduate. However, I do not expect anything much from this man because he is a pukka chela of his gurus sitting in Nagpur. The ion of this man with just a degree for this important position is a clear indication of the lack of bench strength in the BJP. This party revolves around the charisma of only one person -Mr. Modi. Take away Mr. Modi and just see for yourself what is left in this party.

Javdekar is rewarded handsomely for favouring Modi's close friend Adani.
When he was Environment Minister Javadekar Waived Rs.200 Crores, yes I repeat Two Hundred Crores fine imposed on Adani Company by former UPA Govt for causing damage to Environment in Mundra Port Zone & attached SEZ. Licking the feet of Modi's friends like Adani is called Modi Bhakti alias Desh Bhakti.

    Dear Dev,

So you agree that Rs 200 crore fine imposed on Adani Company by former UPA Govt for causing damage to Environment in Mundra Port Zone & attached SEZ has been wavied.

No wonder everyone is bakhts and those benefitted from the fine not being collected. No surprise at all !!!

BJP should include this as an achievement of two year term completion and how some business people are happy about NDA.

This vital HRD Ministry, which was languishing/messed up during the past 2 years, due to poor leadership, has at last got a capable leader. Let's wish Mr. Javadekar all the best during his term of 3 years as boss of HRD Ministry.

For Smritiji, it is a case of "grapes have become sour".

If he doesn't listen to the dictation of the Modi/Amith Shaw mantra, he will be demoted to another new portfolio like " Minister of Illiteracy Eradication Campaign" identical to the yoga revolution. How long it will take the people to understand the march of the nation which is totally and fully being operated in a pure autocracy blindly followed by a bunch of political vassals?

Dear friend, I hate to say, but that is an impossible wish. He will be straightaway acting as a vassal of the Gujarathi deities.

In the Business news papers of the world, the Indian GDP statements are questioned. While the GDP of other countries are tabulated based on many economic factors, Indian GDP is simply the visionary prediction of the Finance Minister. Now that circus is keenly questioned by many sources.

Likewise, the new educational Minister will make declaration to please the deities.
