New Delhi, Jul 15 (DHNS): Questioning the silence of Congress President Sonia Gandhi and vice president Rahul Gandhi over the suicide of police officer M K Ganapati in the Congress ruled Karnataka, the BJP on Thursday said it reflected the Congress leaders’ "lack of sincerity" towards lawlessness in the State.
At a press conference, the BJP spokesperson G V L Narasimha Rao demanded immediate sacking of Bengaluru Development Minister K J George and handing over the case to the CBI for an impartial enquiry.
“It indicates an organised foul play. Ganapati died under mysterious circumstances. He had named George in an interview as the one who should be held responsible if anything happens to him. George should be sacked and the state government should order a CBI probe," Rao said.
He said a series of incidents in Karnataka – such as mysterious death of police officer Kallappa Handibag -- showed that ministers and a "muscleman" close to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah were victimising government officers.
"Sonia and Rahul have gone into a deep slumber. They have turned a blind eye to the major incidents in Karnataka. They should apologise to the people. Rahul has time to visit states where he can do politics," Rao commented.
He said that the BJP was demanding a CBI probe since number of scams have been brushed under the carpet by the State police.
