Mangalore, Nov 21: Bharatanritya Guruvandana (solo debut performance in Bharatanatyam) of Shalmali Ghate will be held at Town Hall, in the city on Sunday, November 25, informed Sudhir P Ghate, father of Shalmali and chairman, Magnum Intergrafiks Pvt Ltd, to media persons here on Monday November 19.
Dr M Mohan Alva, chairman, Alva's Educational Foundation, Moodbidri will be the chief guest and Dr M Prabhakar Joshi, artiste, research scholar and art critic will deliver the key note address. Keremane Shambhu Hegade will be presiding over the programme, he added.
Shalmali is studying in Class IX at Canara Girls’ High School, in the city. She has completed her senior grade Bharatanatyam. She is the disciple of Vidhushi Sharadamani Shekar.
Mangalore has a singular character. It allows a unique fusion of modernity and tradition. It is always advisable to impart modern education imbibing all traditional values and learning the culture, Sudhir Ghate added.
The debut performance would be held under special direction of Natyacharya K Muralidhar Rao with the special coordination of Chandrashekar Shetty, Vidhushi Sreelatha Nagaraj, Sanathana Natyalaya, Mangalore, the media persons were informed.
The programme would begin with dance recital and followed by stage programme ‘Guruvandana’ at 5.30 p m and 7.30 p m respectively, he added.
