Akhilesh mourns death of hockey legend Mohd Shahid


Lucknow, July 20 (IANS): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday mourned the death of former Indian hockey captain Mohammed Shahid.

In a condolence message jere, Yadav said Mohammed Shahid would always be remembered for his unique style of playing. 

Shahid was a resident of Varanasi and died earlier in the day in a Gurgaon hospital.

Shahid was part of the Gold medal-winning Indian hockey team at the 1980 Moscow Olympics.

He was awarded the Arjuna Award, Padma Shri and the Yash Bharati award.
