Heavy rains lash Lucknow


Lucknow, Jul 22 (IANS): Heavy rains lashed Lucknow on Friday, leading to the dropping of mercury.

While the downpour rung in a pleasant weather, it led to severe water logging in many parts of the city, leading to traffic jams at several busy roads.

The Regional Met Office said Friday morning rains were the heaviest this monsoon and predicted more downpours in the coming days.

Rains lashed many parts of eastern and central Uttar Pradesh.

While most of the 75 districts in the state have had a fairly normal monsoon, 13 district have received under average rainfall, a gap that is likely to be filled now, weather officials said.

Owing to heavy rains, power outages have also been reported from many parts of the state capital.
