Ramanagara: Abduction of girl - newspaper boy held

Ramanagara, Jul 27: A youth who allegedly kidnapped a girl and held her in confinement for a few days was arrested by the police of Akkur station in the district on Tuesday July 26.

Nagaraj (23), who stays in a rented accommodation at Hejjala near Akkur in Channapatna taluk, has been accused of the said act. He worked as newspaper boy and the girl lived along with her parents in his neighbourhood.

On the night of Tuesday July 19, Nagaraj reportedly kidnapped the girl from the girls hostel at Channapatna. He held her in confinement in a house at Chakanahalli, Mandya, as per information. After five days, he brought her back to Channapatna, and asked her go back to her home, policemen said.

Parents of the girl filed complaint on the same day in Akkur police station. When questioned, Nagaraj initially stuck to the stand that he was innocent. After intensive questioning, he confessed to his crime. The girl was subjected to medical examination, and treatment is being provided to her. Policemen said that they are earnestly investigating the case.
