Puttur: Tanker driver suffers heart attack during brief halt

Puttur, Jul 27: In an incident which occurred at Addole in Shiradi village, a tanker driver died of cardiac arrest during his visit to the washroom at a petrol bunk there.

The deceased has been identified as Udayasheelan (48) who hails from Salem in Tamil Nadu.

Udayasheelan was working as a tanker driver for Murugan Oil Corporation, Salem. On Monday July 25 night, he had parked his tanker in the said petrol bunk. Tangadurai, relief driver of the tanker, also had taken rest in the vehicle.

On Tuesday morning, Tangadurai could not find Udayasheelan. People went searching for him. They found that the washroom of the petrol room had been bolted from inside. On verification, it was found that the tanker driver had collapsed and died inside the washroom.

The door was broken open immediately and a case was registered in Uppinangady police station.
