Mangalore, Nov 24: A mass agitation has been organized by BJP at the city central and city junction railway stations on Saturday, November 24, to protest against the delay of Mangalore-Bangalore passenger train re-introduction.

Moreover the protestors also stopped the goods trains at the Kankanady city junction railway station and shouted slogans against the railway department and union government.
Speaking on the occasion, BJP state president D V Sadananda Gowda informed that the BJP delegation has met the railway board chairman about eight times. To which he did not receive any positive response, he alleged.
He lamented that the union government has totally neglected Dakshina Kannada. The Matsyagandha Express which was earlier running between Mangalore and Mumbai has already been grabbed by the Keralites. The national highway in Dakshina Kannada is in a bad shape. Despite all these problems faced by the public, the Centre is not showing any concern for people of coastal Karnataka, he rued further.
The railway department had earlier sent a fax to the local authorities saying that, the passenger train between Mangalore and Bangalore will be introduced on December 8. But the reality is that the department has misguided the people by constantly announcing different dates and not abiding by it. If the department continues the same policy, all the trains will be stopped at the railway station, Sadananda Gowda warned.
Former ministers Nagaraj Shetty and V S Acharya, MLAs Yogish Bhat, Krishna Palemar, Shakuntala Shetty, Padmanabha Kottari and Sunilkumar, BJP district president Monappa Bhandary and several others are participating in this protest.
The organizers have made provisions for cold drinks and lunch at the place of protest for the protestors.
